CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven women's soccer team opened its 2025 season by traveling to California (Pa.) for a non-conference game on Thursday night (Sept. 4).
Julia Tavares scored the game-winning goal, and The Haven blanked the Vulcans, 1-0.
After a scoreless 68 minutes, Tavares connected for the Bald Eagles' first goal of the season off a helper from
Maci Shaffer to put The Haven ahead, 1-0.
The Bald Eagles' defense, led by a shutout from goalkeeper
Megan Miller, held the Vulcans off the scoreboard the rest of the way to secure the victory.
The Bald Eagles captured their first victory of the season to start 1-0. The Vulcans fall to 0-1.
In net, Miller finished with a clean sheet, behind three saves.
In the first half, neither team found the back of the net. The Haven fired off four shots, led by one on goal by
Leana Cuzzocrea.

The Bald Eagles remain on the road and will travel to Shepherd for their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener on Saturday (Sept. 6) at 4:30 p.m.
