CLEVELAND, Ohio. – The Lock Haven men's wrestling team took over the top spot in the January Mid-American Conference (MAC) team rankings, the conference office announced on Thursday, Jan. 22.
The Haven was ranked third in the MAC preseason poll, but has flown up to No. 1 after a 7-3 start to the dual season. The Haven grabbed 104 points in the MAC rankings to move in front of second-place Rider (86.5 points) and third-place SIUE (81 points). The full list of team rankings can be found below.
In the MAC individual rankings, the Bald Eagles featured nine wrestlers in the top-5 of their respective weight classes.
Leading the way is
Wyatt Henson (141) and
Avery Bassett (174), who rank No. 2 at 141 and 174 pounds, respectively.
Lucas Kapusta (149) and
Tucker Hogan (197) rank No. 3 at 149 and 197, while
Gable Strickland (133),
Nick Stampoulos (157),
Ousmane Duncanson (165),
Sam Gautreau (184) and
Kade Sottolano (285) came in at No. 5 at their respective weight classes.

Bald Eagles in the NCAA DI InterMat Rankings (January 20):

The Bald Eagles featured three wrestlers in the latest NCAA DI InterMat National Rankings, released by the organization on January 20.
Reigning MAC East Wrestler of the Week - Strickland re-entered the national rankings and came in at No. 31 at 133 pounds. At the Davidson Duals on Friday, Strickland went 3-0 to go over 100 victories in his career. Strickland opened the day with back-to-back tech falls vs. Brown and Presbyterian, before ending the day with a bang with an upset victory over No. 31 Tristan Daugherty (North Dakota State) with a dramatic 1-0 decision.
Henson moved to No. 20 at 141 pounds after another strong showing over the weekend, where he went 3-0, including a pair of tech falls, pushing his season total to eight.
After climbing in the rankings in each week, Kapusta moved to No. 22 at 149 pounds after also going a perfect 3-0 on Friday. The sophomore recorded a major decision and tech fall to improve to 15-3 on the season.
