MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Lock Haven baseball team (1-4) travels back to West Virginia to take on Fairmont State (2-4) in an out of conference matchup this Friday (Feb. 27). The Bald Eagles lost 14-10.
Fairmont State led 3-0 through two innings, before Nick Negola hit a two-RBI double in the fourth inning, and Zachary McEllroy hit a two-run round tripper in the fifth to give The Haven a 4-3 lead.
The Falcons soared back, scoring six runs in the fifth, going up 9-4. However, the Bald Eagles answered with a six-run inning of their own in the sixth, led by a Jamie Martoccio single and a Jackson Bower triple, giving The Haven a 10-9 lead.
Fairmont State, however, had the final answer and scored one in the sixth and four in the seventh to steal a 14-10 victory.
Tyler Serb toed the rubber for the Bald Eagles, allowing three runs - two earned on seven hits. Serb stuck out one hitter across 3.1 innings of work.
Holden Ward and Nate Mostosky combined for 3.1 innings pitched - five earned runs and two strikeouts.
Negola (2-for-5, 2B, R, 2 RBI's) was the lone multi-hit Bald Eagle today. McEllroy (1-for-4, HR, R, 3 RBI's), Bower (1-for-4, 3B, R, 2 RBI's), Martaccio (1-for-2, 1B, BB, R, RBI) and Gardner Fravel (2 RBI's) each drove in runs for The Haven.
Ethan Nagy, Cayden Robertson, and Robert Furino also picked up base knocks this afternoon.

The Bald Eagles return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 with a game against Lake Erie in Morgantown, West Virginia. It will mark the second of three games scheduled for next weekend.
