MANSFIELD, Pa. – Behind Keith Warren's game-high 24 points, the Lock Haven men's basketball team secured its first road win of the season as the Bald Eagles downed Mansfield, 103-86, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Wednesday night.
For the second time this season, the Bald Eagles eclipsed 100 points, after doing so in a 100-93 overtime victory against Slippery Rock.
Lock Haven improves to 8-14 overall and 4-11 in PSAC play. Mansfield fell to 2-19 overall and 1-14 in the conference.
The Haven made 39 field goals and eclipsed 60% shooting from the field, both of which are season highs.
Mansfield led the first five minutes of the game, until Lock Haven went on an 11-4 run and never looked back.
Going into the break, Lock Haven led by 10 points, 49-39. The Haven never looked back and extended that lead to as large as 22 points.
Keith Warren led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 4-of-7 from distance. Blake Deegan was 6-of-7 from the field, adding14 points and the lone rejection for the Bald Eagles.
Dyllon Scott was in triple-double watch territory, scoring 14 points as well on 50% shooting, while also dishing out a team-high eight assists and snagging six boards.
Other notable double-digit scorers were Devon Nelson (14 points), Dean Coleman-Newsome (13 points), and freshman Luke Kennevan (10 points).
The Haven shot an efficient 83% from the charity strike, its third best mark on the season.
The key difference between the two squads was points in the paint, with Lock Haven backing Mansfield down 52-38. The Bald Eagles also finished with 13 second-chance points, able to capitalize off their rare misses on the evening.
