CLEVELAND – Lock Haven men's wrestler Wyatt Henson won his opening three bouts on day two of the NCAA DI National Championship to soar to All-American honors.

Henson opened Friday's action with a perfect 3-0 run with three straight decisions to advance to the elite eight at 141 pounds and secure All-American honors.

With the performance, Henson became the 46th Bald Eagle to achieve Division I All-American status.

In a back-and-forth thriller, No. 13 Henson upset Iowa's No. 7 Nasir Bailey with a 6-4 decision to move into the consolation quarterfinals. After trailing 3-1 in the first period, Henson dominated the second from the top position and built up a crucial riding-time advantage.

A decisive takedown at the 1:12 mark of the third period gave him his first lead - one he wouldn't surrender - to seal the 6-4 win.

In the consolation quarterfinals, Henson faced No. 18 Carter Nogle of Air Force, where he ultimately came up short in a 10-5 decision.

The senior will wrestle in the seventh-place match on Saturday morning (March 21), with action kicking off at 11 a.m. on ESPNU. Henson will take on the No. 11 seed CJ Composto (Penn).

Henson is now 4-2 in the tournament and 27-5 on the season.

Earlier this morning, Henson went 2-0 in Session 3 to reach the round of 12. The No. 13 seed earned a 4-0 win over Utah Valley's Haiden Drury, then edged Oklahoma's Taylor Wells 6-4 behind riding time.
