INDIANA, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's soccer team trimmed its deficit to one early in the second half, but Indiana (Pa.) held off the Bald Eagles the rest of the way to secure a 2-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division victory on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite the result, Lock Haven has won four of its last five matches and now stands at 4-3 overall and 3-2 in PSAC West play. IUP improved to 2-2-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference action.
The Bald Eagles entered Wednesday's match riding a four-game winning streak and were ranked ninth in the Atlantic Region in Tuesday's latest Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Coaches (IWOSC) poll.
IUP scored in the 42nd and 46th minutes to build a 2-0 advantage.
Sydney Linus put Lock Haven on the board just two minutes later, cutting the deficit in half with her first goal of the season.
Aleigha Rieppel dished out the assist on the goal following a corner kick.
However, the Crimson Hawks halted the Bald Eagles' comeback bid and did not allow another goal to secure the 2-1 victory.
Lock Haven finished with two shots on goal, including Linus' score.
In net,
Devon Mason recorded a game-high six saves. The IUP goal was the first Mason had allowed in more than four matches.

The Bald Eagles will remain on the road and travel to Gannon for another PSAC West matchup on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
