Field Hockey soars to 10-0 victory over Saint Francis

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven field hockey team found the back of the cage in the opening seconds and never looked back en route to a dominant 10-0 shutout victory over Saint Francis on Friday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.
 
Lock Haven's 10 goals on Friday is tied for third in program history and is the most in a single game since 2005.
 
With the victory, The Haven has surpassed its win total from 2025 and is off to its best start since 2022 at 3-2 to kick off the season.
 
The Bald Eagles found the back of the cage four times in the opening quarter and added two goals in each of the final three periods. Lock Haven outshot Saint Francis, 20-4, placed 14 shots on goal and earned a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.
 
Melanie Beall opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the contest off an assist from Cassidy Clausnitzer. Maddie Friend followed with a goal at the 1:54 mark, set up by Beall, before adding two more first-quarter tallies to complete the hat trick.
 
Friend scored at 8:54 and 12:49, both with assists from Rylee Wassmer, and finished with a game-high three goals. She also added an assist.
 
Eva Drumbore pushed Lock Haven's lead to 5-0 early in the second quarter, scoring at the 16:24 mark. Maggie Moylan added a goal late in the half to send the Bald Eagles into the break with a 6-0 advantage.
 
Beall recorded her second goal of the afternoon less than a minute into the third quarter. Moylan added her second score at 41:04, finishing a play assisted by Friend and Paula Sigley.
 
Lock Haven continued its offensive surge in the fourth quarter. Pilar Peroni scored at 46:08 before Max Russell capped the scoring at 47:45 off assists from Ambar Bruno and Peroni.
 
Beall totaled two goals and one assist, while Moylan scored twice. Peroni registered a goal and an assist, and Wassmer added two assists. Clausnitzer, Sigley and Bruno each recorded one assist.
 
Sophia Owens earned the shutout in goal for Lock Haven, making three saves over 60 minutes.
 
The Bald Eagles held Saint Francis without a shot in the second half and did not allow a penalty corner.

The Bald Eagles return to Charlotte Smith Field on Sunday, Sept. 20 for a 12 p.m. non-conference game against American.
