WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Lock Haven men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 road victory over the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon.
 
The win marked Lock Haven's (1-2-4) first victory of the season and extended its unbeaten run to three matches.
 
Billy Lawrence scored the lone goal of the match in the 70th minute, while Reece Kordes made one save to secure the clean sheet for the Bald Eagles.
 
After a scoreless first half, Lock Haven broke through in the 70th minute. Austen Veach and Nicholas McGhin connected on the buildup before finding Lawrence, who finished the opportunity at the 69:40 mark to give The Haven the 1-0 advantage.
 
The Bald Eagles controlled much of the action throughout the contest and finished with a 9-5 advantage in total shots, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal. Lock Haven also earned five corner kicks, compared to two for UDC.
 
Kade Black led Lock Haven with two shots and nearly doubled the lead in the 83rd minute when his effort struck the post. Scott Manning recorded two shots on target, while Joshua Horn, Patricio Zapata and Owen Lichtenwalner each added a shot on goal.
 
Kordes was called upon once in the opening half, stopping a 43rd-minute effort from UDC's Cody Williams. The Lock Haven defense did not allow a shot on goal in the second half.
