Bald Eagles set for PSAC crossover doubleheader with Gannon tomorrow

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Madison Neddo (Earlville, Md./Coppin State Univ.) threw a complete-game shutout in game one today, as the Lock Haven University baseball team split a road doubleheader with East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East action.

Neddo led Lock Haven (8-14, 7-9 PSAC East) to a, 4-0 win in game one.  East Stroudsburg (19-9, 8-8 PSAC East) scored four runs in its final at bat to steal game two, 10-9.

Game 1 Recap: W, 4-0

Neddo was the story in game one, as the senior picked up his second win of the year with a sensational complete-game effort.

Neddo allowed just three hits and added three strikeouts in the win.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings of play before Ethan Moore (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) launched a solo homerun to left field in the fifth inning to put LHU ahead, 1-0.

It was Moore's third homer of the year.

The Bald Eagles added another run in the fifth when Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) hit an RBI single, giving LHU a, 2-0 lead.

After a Moore sac fly made it, 3-0 in the sixth, Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) added an insurance run with a seventh inning RBI double to give The Haven the lead, 4-0.

The four run cushion was more than enough for Neddo, who shut the door on the Warriors in the seventh.

Game 2 Recap: L, 10-9

The LHU bats were rolling throughout game two.  The Bald Eagles tallied 14 hits in the game and led, 9-6 heading into the final half inning.

The Warriors rallied, however.  After an RBI single by Jay Young cut the game to, 9-7, Casey Saverio hit a two-run triple to tie the game at, 2-2 with just one out.

LHU walked the bases loaded to setup a force play at the plate and The Haven got the ground ball they were looking for, but an errant throw allowed the winning run to score.

Freshman Justin Sleigh (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs in the game.

Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) went 2-for-4, including his fourth homerun of the year, a three-run shot in the third inning.

Ryan Koch (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) went 2-for-3 with a double and Mike Agosto (Bushkill, Pa./Northhampton C.C.) was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

Moore went 2-for-4 and drove in an RBI.

Today's game wrapped up the four-game regular season series between Lock Haven and East Stroudsburg.  The two teams split the four games, 2-2.

Lock Haven is currently, 7-9 in the PSAC East in fifth place and sits just one game behind East Stroudsburg (8-8) for the fourth and final playoff spot.
