Baseball continues hot start, downs Fairmount State in West Virginia

Bald Eagles start play in Morgantown, win game one over Fairmont State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The Lock Haven baseball team has returned to action today (Friday, Feb. 28) as the Bald Eagles look to continue their historic start to the season.

The win moves Lock Haven to 7-2 on the season. The Bald Eagles strong start in 2025 earned the club the No. 10 ranking in this week's (Feb. 24) National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region poll.

The Bald Eagles have benefited from outstanding pitching to start the year and today was another example.

Starting pitcher Matt Lingenfelter went four strong innings, giving up three hits and striking out three. The outing was good enough to pick up the win, his second on the young campaign.

Junior Andrew Kramer came in for relief, tossing 2.2 innings, while striking out three hitters.

Will Stambaugh and Levi Schlesinger closed the final two innings and each stuck out a pair.

After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Bald Eagles rallied for four runs in both the fourth and fifth inning to jump out to an 8-0 lead and ultimately put the game out of reach.

The Lock Haven offense erupted for 12 hits on the afternoon and Nick White (3-for-5, 2B), Jake Ambrosio (2-for-5) and Bryce Vincent (2-for-4, RBI) all finished with multiple base knocks. Morgen Billotte and Ethan Nagy added doubles and combined for five RBIs.

Nathan Wise was a spark at the top of the order and reached base safely three times.
