MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Leslie Ahern (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville North) scored a hat trick to jump start the Lady Eagles offense and led the Lock Haven University field hockey team (2-4) past host Robert Morris (2-4) 6-0 today.
With the win, Lock Haven remained unbeaten against RMU.
Abbey Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) opened the scoring as time expired in the first half. She knocked home a penalty corner attempt to put The Haven up 1-0.
Ahern scored in the 50th and 53rd minutes to make it 3-0 as LHU was cruising.
Nicole Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kuztown) made it 4-0 in the 56th minute and
Kelsie Minnich (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) found her way on the score sheet in the 61st minute as the Lady Eagles pulled away.
Ahern capped off her first career hat trick in the 65th minute of play as LHU led 6-0.
LHU got a sensational defensive effort and only allowed eight shots.
Lindsay Staufenberg (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) was strong in net for LHU and made three big saves when called upon.
The Lady Eagles are on the road again Friday, September 16 at 4 p.m. when they travel to Colgate. LHU returns home to host local-rival Bucknell on Sunday, September 18 at 1 p.m.
