Setting the stage:
Lock Haven is set for its 2012 Homecoming game, coming off a 30-0 loss at No. 15 California (Pa.) last weekend. The Bald Eagles (0-7, 0-4 PSAC West) have put together a number of strong defensive outings and are looking to right the ship this weekend in front of the home faithful.

The Bald Eagles are led by redshirt-junior tailback Brandon Brader. The returning All-PSAC second team back has 329 rushing yards, 14 catches and two TDs on the year.

LHU storylines, streaks and sidebars:
- Saturday' game with Clarion marks Lock Haven's 2012 Homecoming.

- It is the third home game of the year for The Haven, who has played back-to-back road games after opening the 2012 season with three straight road games.

- Last week's 30-0 loss at No. 15 Cal (Pa.) marked the fourth time this year where LHU has been shutout … all four shutouts were on the road.

- The Cal game also marked the third nationally ranked DII opponent that Lock Haven has played this year.

- The loss was the 49th straight for LHU, dating back to the Bald Eagles 2007 win over Clarion.

- The 49 straight losses are the most in DII history.

- A huge bright spot vs. Cal was the play of sophomore defensive back Derrick Watkins. He made a game-high 13 tackles, which included 10 solo stops. The 13 tackles were the most by any Bald Eagle in a game this year.

- R-Jr. tailback Brandon Brader is currently ninth on Lock Haven's all-time career rushing list with 1,513 yards.

- So. Safety George Christas leads LHU with 48 tackles on the year.

Clarion at a glance:
Clarion has lost back-to-back games including a 28-20 loss last weekend to Slippery Rock. Dual-threat-QB Ben Ficus rushed for 68 yards and one TD, while passing for 287 yards and a TD.

Ficus now has 1,976 rushing yards, which is 10th in CU history. He's 12th all-time in passing yards.

Brader carries the load:
Despite a tough game last week at Cal, Brandon Brader continues to pave the way for LHU. The R-Jr. tailback is currently just 140 rushing yard away from eighth all-time in the Lock Haven record books. He currently sits in ninth with 1,513 career rushing yards. On the year, he has 339 yards (47/game) and two TDs.  Brader is also second on the team with 14 catches.

D-FENCE:
Lock Haven's speedy defense has been able to keep the Bald Eagles in the game as of late. Last week sophomore defensive back Derrick Watkins was all over the place and finished with a game-high 13 tackles (10 solo).

On the year, sophomore safety George Christas leads the way with 48 stops.

Senior linebacker James Goins has 44, while true-freshman Tashawn Bunch has 41.

Allen's second year as head coach:
2012 marks the second season for head coach John Allen. The 1996 James Madison graduate was no stranger to LHU when he took over the program in March 2011, as he was previously on the Bald Eagle coaching staff as an assistant from 1996-2003. While at LHU, he assisted in all phases of the game including wide receivers and special teams' coordinator (1996-99), defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator (1999), offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach (2000-03). Allen served as the head coach of NFL Europes Berlin Thunder in 2007 and prior to coming to LHU he was the coordinator for player development at Penn State.

LHU honors Faculty:
LHU honored its faculty members during the game with Shippensburg by celebrating Faculty Appreciation Day at The Haven. All of Lock Haven's student-athletes wanted to take time to “THANK” the 260-plus LHU faculty members that have helped shape the lives of 25,000 living alumni.

As part of an ongoing attempt for the LHU Athletic Department to thank LHU faculty, today's faculty captain is Matthew Girton, Ph.D. (Professor of Communication).

LHU coaching staff promotes Coach to Cure MD:
LHU head coach John Allen and his coaching staff helped promote “COACH TO CURE MD” this season. Coach Allen and the LHU staff joined coaches all over America in wearing a patch on their left arms to help defeat a terrible genetic disorder. It's called COACH TO CURE MD. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) is working to raise awareness and research funding to cure Duchenne (doo-SHEN) Musular Dystrophy, the most prolific genetic killer diagnosed in children. Visit, CoachToCureMD.org for more information.

Community Day a success:
LHU's week four home-opener against Edinboro marked Lock Haven's second-annual “Community Day.” Because of the generosity of the sponsors, admissions and parking was free for all. The 2012 Community Day sponsors were Bill Macintrye Chevrolet Buick, Nittany Travel, the LHU Bookstore, 92.1 WSQV / AM 1230 WBPZ and The Express.

Heading East:
The PSAC announced earlier this week at Lock Haven is moving to the Eastern Division for the 2013-14 academic year.

Lock Haven will join the PSAC East for football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball. The Haven volleyball team began playing in the Eastern Division in 2008 and will remain in the East as the league moves forward following the addition of two schools in August.

In August, the PSAC announced that the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and Seton Hill University accepted invitations to join the league at the start of the 2013-14 season.

Located approximately 50 miles apart in Southwestern, Pennsylvania, both Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill will play in the PSAC West.

Trio of All-PSAC selections:
Along with Brader, two other All-Conference selections from a year ago return including junior guard Anthony Herko and senior defensive tackle Skyler Wool.

Herko was the leader on the offensive line last year for LHU as he started all 10 games.

Wool, who was nominated for the Gene Upshaw Division II Linemen of the Year award last year returns after a breakout 2011 season. Wool got the starting nod in week two and never looked back last year; making 31 tackles (22 solo), 5.5 TFL, one sack and he added a fumble recovery.

Looking ahead:
It's back-to-back home games for the Bald Eagles as they host Gannon next Saturday (October 27) at 7 p.m.
