LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 21 Lock Haven University swim team won eight-of-11 events including the final race of the night in the 200 free relay, giving the Lady Eagles a thrilling, 106-98 win over Millersville University.
The win marked the first under newly-appointed head coach
Joel Blesh.
Leading the way tonight for Lock Haven was
Brittany Rehrig (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington).
Rehrig accounted for two of The Haven's eight wins on the night. She won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races with PSAC qualifying marks of 24.58 and 54.50, respectively.
Laura Stephens (West Chester, Pa./Univ. of Vermont) picked up the Lady Eagles third individual PSAC mark of the night after winning the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:09.70.
The Lady Eagles opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay and needing a win in the 11th and final event of the dual, The Haven sealed the victory with a win in the 200 free relay.
Allie Muha (Millersville, Md./Severna Park),
Kristin Taylor (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) and
Kayla Schnars (Howard, Pa./Bellefonte) were all individual winners for Lock Haven.
Muha won the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.08, while Schnars won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.07.
Taylor won the 100 butterfly (1:02.38) and was second in the 1,000 free (11:38.88).
Tonight marked Lock Haven's final competition before the team breaks for the Holidays.
Lock Haven will travel to California for a training trip in early January. On Friday, January 11, the Lady Eagles will take on Chapman and Soka and the University of Chapman.
