LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  –
The Lock Haven University field hockey team (1-1) scored two goals just 21 seconds apart in the first half and knocked off visiting Longwood (0-2) 2-1 today at Charlotte E. Smith Field in a non-conference thriller.

Lock Haven found itself in an early hole after Stacey de Grandhomme put the Lancers up 1-0 just 6:15 into the match.

Early in the 17th minute, Jennifer Felice (Endicott, N.Y./Maine Endwell) redirected a Stephanie Ebersole (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) shot to tie the match at 1-1. It marked the first career point for the two freshmen.

Just 21 seconds later senior Nikki Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) scored the eventual game-winner. Nakira Downes (Bridgetown, Barbados/The Combermere School) set up Weaknecht's goal after a tremendous individual effort. It marked the first career-point for Downes as well.

LHU goalie Kelsey Moll (Newmanstown, Pa./Elco) was brilliant in the second half and finished with four saves.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. when they host Cornell in non-conference action.
