Lock Haven falls to #21 Shippensburg, 49-6

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team fell to No. 21 Shippensburg University 49-6 today at Hubert Jack Stadium in PSAC Crossover action.

The Bald Eagles (0-5) trailed 28-6 at the half as Shippensburg (5-0) quarterback Zach Zuilli sparked the Red Raider win.

Zuilli was 32-for-42 passing for 403 yards and five touchdowns on the day.

Trailing 14-0, Lock Haven got on the board midway through the second quarter when Jarrett Kratzer (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) hooked up with Jesse Hoover (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville).

Hoover's 14-yard touchdown grab capped off a quick, three-play-35-yard drive. The touchdown made it 28-6, as the PAT failed.

Shippensburg however scored 14 points in the final five minutes of the first half and a used a 21-point second half to pull away.

Kratzer finished the day 11-for-22 passing for 147 yards and the Hoover-touchdown pass.

Frankie Probst (Lock Haven, Pa./Robert Morris Univ.) made two catches for 62 yards and Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) carried the ball 18 times for 56 yards.

Tashawn Bunch (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) made a game-high eight tackles including six solo stops. Mike Williams (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) added seven tackles.

Lock Haven hits the road next Saturday (October 6) to take on Mercyhurst at noon.

Game Notes –

The loss marks the 47th straight for Lock Haven, which breaks the all-time NCAA Division II record for consecutive losses (Minnesota Morris, 46 losses from 1998-2003).

It marked the second time in three games were LHU played a top-25 team.

After three straight road games to open the 2012 season, LHU has now enjoyed back-to-back home games.

Fifth-year senior QB Jarrett Kratzer made his 18th career start under center.

Redshirt-junior Brandon Brader now has 1,456 career rushing yards, which is 10th all-time (ninth is Pat Cahill – 1,498 from 1984-87).
