Haven’s win snaps 30-game road-losing streak; Lock Haven’s three wins mark most in a season since a 3-8 mark in 2004

Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) threw three touchdown passes and the Bald Eagles turned in a tremendous defense effort as the Lock Haven University football snapped a 30-game road-losing streak at Millersville today, 26-14.
 
The Bald Eagles (3-5, 2-3 PSAC East) scored 13 second-quarter points, thanks to two interceptions and a late fumble recovering, which helped beat Millersville (1-7, 1-4 PSAC East) for the first time since 1959.
 
The win also marks the third of the year for third-year head coach John Allen and his Bald Eagles, giving Lock haven its most wins since The Haven went 3-8 during the 2004 season.
 
Prior to today, Lock Haven's last win on the road came in 2007 at Clarion (11/10/07).
 
Walton, who was making his second consecutive start and the just the second of his career, threw for 181 yards and three TDs. He was 16-of-29 passing with no interceptions. Walton hit three different players for scores, including David Cook (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), Jesse Hoover (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) and Matthew Gibson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring).
 
Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) carried the ball 10 times for 25 yards, while Gibson added 23 yards on 10 carries. Walton rushed for 23 yards.
 
The Bald Eagles defense once again flexed its muscles and proved why it is one of the top units in the PSAC and in Division II football. The Bald Eagles picked off each of Millersville's three QB's once today.
 
The Haven's balanced defensive effort was led by five different players, who recorded five total tackles, including George Christas (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), Kyle White (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), Matt Kirchner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Chris Englar (York, Pa./Central York) and Nick Suriano (Atco, N.J./Shawnee).
 
Marc Olivo (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had two of Lock Haven's three interceptions and the Bald Eagles recorded five sacks on the day.
 
Lock Haven led 13-0 at halftime, scoring all 13 points in the second quarter. It was the Bald Eagles first halftime lead all year.  
 
Kicker Alex Boumerhi (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) put LHU up 3-0 with 8:57 left in the second quarter on a school-record 48-yard field goal. The long field goal was set up after the first of two Olivo interceptions.  
 
Late in the second quarter Mike Williams (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) picked off Millersville's Jared Pierce and returned it 42 yards, setting up Lock Haven's first TD of the game. Two plays later, Walton hit Cook on an 18-yard pass for a touchdown with just six seconds remaining the half.
 
Lock Haven wasn't done and with just three second left in the first half, the Bald Eagles recovered a Marauder fumble in field goal range at the MU 23-yard line. With no time left on the clock Boumerhi connected on a 40-yarder.
 
Hoover caught a 37-yard pass from Walton for his 11th career touchdown late in the third quarter and Gibson hauled in a TD-pass from Walton on a fake field goal with 5:02 left in the fourth to round out the Bald Eagle scoring.
 
Lock Haven travels to East Stroudsburg next Saturday, Nov. 2 for 3:05 p.m. kickoff.
