Lock Haven falls to Edinboro in PSAC Crossover clash

Box Score EDINBORO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (2-3) fell to Edinboro (3-2) 31-6 today in PSAC Crossover action.
 
Dillon Mazzoni (Melbourne, Fla./Shippensburg Univ.) threw for 121 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) rushed for 97 yards, but it wasn't enough for LHU to steal the road-win.
 
The 97 yards on the ground push Brader to 2,184 rushing yards for his career, moving him into fourth-place all-time.
 
Edinboro led 17-6 at halftime and the Fighting Scots tacked on a TD in both the third and fourth quarter to secure the victory.
 
The Haven's TD came early in the second quarter with Mazzoni hit James Wilbern (Steelton, Pa./Steelton-Highspire) on a 41-yard pass. The touchdown capped off a nine-play, 75-yard scoring drive. The PAT failed.
 
Mazzoni finished 9-for-22 passing for 121 yards and a TD. He was picked off twice.
 
Wilbern caught three passes for 62 yards.
 
George Christas (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), Tashawn Bunch (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley) and Tony Ballon (Jersey City, N.J./Harrisburg) combined to lead Lock Haven's defensive effort.
 
Christas had a game-high 13 tackles and he added an interception. Ballon made 10 stops and Bunch had nine (seven solo).
 
Lock Haven returns home next Saturday (Oct. 12) for a home game vs. Shippensburg (noon).

Game Notes:
- Today marked the first time since 2002 that LHU entered Week 5 of the season with a .500 record.
- LHU is 0-3 on the road this year. This was The Haven's second straight road game.
- Today marked Lock Haven's second of three PSAC West Crossover games. LHU fell to Clarion in Week 2 and hosts Gannon in Week 11.
- QB Dillon Mazzoni has started all five games and has a TD pass in each. Last week he passed for a career-high 206 yards.
- Lock Haven now returns home for back-to-back home games. LHU is 2-0 at home this year and the Bald Eagles have won three straight at Hubert Jack Stadium dating back to the 2012 season finale.
