Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshman Lydia George (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) scored two goals to spark the attack, but it wasn't enough as the Lock Haven University field hockey (13-6, 3-3 A-10) dropped a thrilling 4-2 decision to No. 12 Massachusetts (15-4, 6-0 A-10) this afternoon.

UMass controlled the opening half, scoring two quick goals on the way to a 2-0 halftime lead. Less than 12 minutes into the match, Brooke Sabia and Alexa Sikalis had UMass up 2-0.

Again, UMass started quickly in the second half and Hannah Prince made it 3-0 in the 38th minute.

George put Lock Haven on the board less than three minutes later on the first of her two strikes. She deflected home a Taylor Kennedy (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) shot from just inside the circle. The play was a tremendous combination as the original Kennedy-shot was set up by George, who fed her from just in the front of UMass goalie Sam Carlino.

Just four minutes later, George was at it again and made it a one-goal game. She knocked home her own rebound in the 44th minute, flicking the ball over a diving Carlino, who made the initial save.

Molly MacDonnell put it away for Massachusetts, scoring with just 1:16 left in regulation.

Lock Haven goalie Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made seven saves.

UMass held a slight 15-12 advantage in shots and led 11-5 in penalty corners.

Carlino finished with six saves for the visitors.

Lock Haven closes out the 2013 regular season on Sunday, Nov. 3 at home (12 p.m.) vs. Saint Louis.
