Lady Eagles sweep first place Shippensburg in three set thriller at home

Haven advances to 20-13 overall with three set sweep over PSAC East Shippensburg

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team downed first place Shippensburg University 3-0 (25-20, 30-28, 25-23) tonight in a huge PSAC East matchup at a packed Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
LHU (20-13) came out hitting on all cylinders and took the first set, 25-20. 
 
The two teams battled back-and-forth in a thrilling second set before The Haven came away with an epic, 30-28 victory. 
 
The Lady Eagles fell behind early in the third set, but were able to erase a seven-point deficit to take the set, 25-23 and earn the sweep.
 
Alex Brehony (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) was outstanding for LHU all match.  She led the Lady Eagles with 15 kills on just 31 attempts, posting a .381 hitting percentage.
 
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) turned in a solid nine kills on the evening.
 
Senior Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio./Dublin Coffman) added eight kills in the win.
 
Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) recorded 20 digs and served up two aces and Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) added 10 digs.
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) set up the offense all night.  She dished out 36 assists and added 12 digs.
 
Jill Edwards led SHIP with 16 kills in the match.
 
With the win, Lock Haven moves into a tie for third place in the PSAC East with Millersville.
 
The Haven and Millersville square off tomorrow (Nov. 16) in the season finale.  The winner of the match will earn the third seed in the PSAC playoffs.  The Lady Eagles will celebrate senior day at tomorrow's match.
