LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior
Brittany Rehrig (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) of the Lock Haven University swim team has earned a 2012-13 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Top Ten Winter Award.
It marks the second time her career that Rehrig has won the prestigious award, becoming Lock Haven's sixth multiple-time Top Ten award winner and The Haven's 22nd individual honoree.
The Top Ten Awards, selected by the PSAC's sports information directors, recognize student-athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom, as well as in the arena of competition. The conference designates Top Ten Award winners after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter and spring.
To be a candidate for the Top Ten Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (as of Fall 2009 awards) and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
This season, Rehrig capped off a brilliant career, which leaves her as one of Lock Haven's most all-time decorated swimmers.
Rehrig became a seven-time All-American at the 2013 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships when she placed eighth overall in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was second in the same event at the 2013 PSAC Championships.
The standout-Lady Eagle competed in three different events at this year's NCAA Championships and won the 100-breaststroke at the always-strong IUP John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational in mid-November.
Along with being a two-time PSAC Top Ten award winner, Rehrig is a seven-time All-American, a three-time Academic All-American and she holds nine school records.
