Lady Eagles turn in strong outing at Mansfield

LHU earns 122 points through 11 events

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swim team downed Mansfield on the road at its first meet of the 2014 calendaryear, 122-82.
 
The Lady Eagles didn't miss a beat as they started the meet with first and third place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay.  Kayla Schnars (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte), Kristen Capretti (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), Kaitlyn Druby (Palmyra, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), and Carley Nitchie (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) recorded a 1:58.10 mark to give LHU 11 points in the first race.
 
Sophomore transfer Danielle Parowski (Altoona, Pa./Univ. of Pittsburgh) swam strong races today for LHU.  Parowski earned first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle with records of 2:04.06 and 58.02, respectively.
 
Druby was back in the pool for the 100-yard breaststroke and continued to dominate with another first place finish.  Druby recorded a time of 1:13.85. 
 
Senior Ciara Conklin (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:20.00.
 
Capretti returned to the pool alongside Emily Shultz (Lock Haven, Pa./Stony Brook Univ.) in the 500-yard freestyle.  Capretti and Shultz recorded first and third finishes with times of 5:57.69 and 6:24.02, respectively.
 
The Lady Eagles concluded today's meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. 
 
LHU closed out the match with a total of 122 points.
 
The Lady Eagles return to the pool tomorrow, Jan. 18 against Kutztown at Zimmerli Pool (1 p.m.).
