LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (9-6) pushed its winning streak to five today, as the Bald Eagles swept Penn State Schuylkill (4-6) in the Bald Eagles' 2016 home-opener at Foundation Field.

LHU won game one 2-1 and the Bald Eagles took game two 9-0.

The two wins push Lock Haven's winning streak to five games, the first time LHU has won five consecutive games since The Haven won six in a row during the 2011 season (Feb. 18 – Mar. 6).

LHU hung on to take game one 2-1 despite PSU-S putting the tying run just 90-feet away from home.

The Bald Eagles led 2-0 going into the seventh inning. The Nittany Lions quickly cut LHU's lead to one, however, 2-1 in the seventh and with just one out, PSU-S had two runners on base, including the tying run just 90-feet away.

LHU's
Nick Hornbaker (Lancaster, Pa./East Stroudsburg Univ.) rose to the occasion, however and induced a game-ending 6-3-1 double play to end the game.

It was Hornbaker's second save of the season.

Six different Bald Eagles had one hit in the game and
Justin Sleigh (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) had LHU's lone extra base hit with a double.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) and
Mike Anthony (Audubon, Pa./North Hampton Community College) combined for 12 strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

Watson started and threw two innings with four strikeouts before yielding to Anthony who struck out eight in 4.1 innings.

Anthony picked up the win, his third of the year.
Â
Lock Haven's nine runs in game two came off of 11 hits.

Evan McFarland (Cottonwood, Ariz./Gateway Community College) went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run.
Â
Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Â
Jimmy Webb (Williamsport, Pa./Wake Forest) was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Â
Sleigh went 2-for-4 and drove in one RBI.
Â
Five different pitchers combined to allow just five hits and tallied seven strikeouts in the win.

Jacob Belinda (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) was credited with the win. He started and struck out five in two innings.

Lock Haven returns to action on Tuesday, March 22 when the Bald Eagles host Clarion in a non-conference doubleheader at Foundation Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
