Volleyball knocked off by Millersville on Senior Day

The Bald Eagles fell at home 3-1 to Millersville to finish the season

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (11-19, 4-14 PSAC) fell at home to Millersville (18-10, 9-9 PSAC) 3-1 (25-12, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21) on senior day for the Bald Eagles.

Seniors Annie Dombrowski (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) and Holly Shoemaker (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) were honored before the game for everything they have done for LHU over the past four years and to wish them well in their future endeavors.

The Bald Eagles got off to a slower start than they would have liked and The Marauders were able to capitalize and take the first two sets.

Once the third set began, The Haven looked like a whole new team.  LHU started the third set on fire as they were able to jump out to a big lead as Chloe Williams (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) tallied six kills on her seven attacks in the set to set the tone.  Millersville made a run late, but the Bald Eagles were able to fend off The Marauders and take the third set to cut the deficit to 2-1.

In the fourth set, LHU and Millersville went back and forth throughout, but The Marauders made a late run to build a lead and held on to get the win.

The Bald Eagle offense was led by Williams as she tallied 11 kills to lead the team. Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) was second on the team with nine kills.

Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) led Lock Haven with 31 assists.

Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) led The Haven with 26 digs and ended her record-breaking season with 777 for the year. Nealon and Stick were next on the team with 15 and 14 digs respectively.

The Bald Eagles end their season with an overall record of 11 wins and 19 loses.  The team made a five-win improvement from last year and this young core is only going to get better.
