The 2017 LHU football season is in the books.

The final record:
Lock Haven finished the season 2-9 overall … The Bald Eagles went 2-5 in PSAC East action with the divisional wins coming over Cheyney and local-rival Bloomsburg … It marked LHU's second straight win over Bloomsburg and moved third-year head coach
Dave Taynor to 2-1 all-time vs. Bloomsburg.
Run the ball:
Leading the way for the Bald Eagles in 2017 was the run-game … LHU finished with 2,182 rushing yards and Lock Haven finished with 198.4 yards per game, which ranked as the fourth-best rushing offense in the PSAC at the end of the regular season … Leading the way was true-freshman quarterback
Kyle Knight who rushed for eight touchdowns … Running back
John Ford finished with eight rushing TDs as well … Knight ran for 76 yards per game, while Ford added 52.5 … As a team, LHU ran for 20 TDs with 18 of 20 coming in the final six games … As a team, Lock Haven recorded three games with 300 or more rushing yards including a single-game school record of 460 (6 rushing TDs) in the win over Cheyney.
Big win over Cheyney:
In Week 6 action, Lock Haven beat Cheyney, 62-0 … It marked the second most points scored in a win, just shy of the 66 points posted in a 2016 victory over East Stroudsburg on the road … The lopsided shutout-win over Cheyney marked LHU's first shutout since Lock Haven blanked the Wolves 28-0 on the road in 2014.
Knight takes over at QB, leads the way:
True-freshman QB
Kyle Knight ran for 104 yards at perennial power Slippery Rock in Week 2 action and the rest is history as he then rattled off a remarkable "run" over the next seven games … In all, the two-time PSAC Offensive Player of the Week, made six starts (10GP) and finished with 760 rushing yards (76/game), 655 passing yards (65.5/game), 10 total touchdowns (8 rush, 2 pass) and he threw for just two interceptions in 114 attempts … Knight recorded four games of 100-plus rushing yards including 174 in the comeback-win at Bloomsburg. He rushed for a season-high 181 and for four TDs in the win over Cheyney … He threw for 264 yards in a narrow-loss to ESU in Week 10.
Pair of local freshmen lead the receiving corps:
Over the second half of the season, it was a pair of true-freshmen from nearby Williamsport, Pennsylvania, who emerged as the leaders in the Bald Eagles receiving corps … Despite their youth tight end
Jalen Jackson and wide receiver
Elliot Walker made a name for themselves … Jackson finished as LHU's top receiver with 30.2 receiving-yards per game … In all (11GP/7GS), he made 26 catches for 332 yards … Walker (8GP/5GS) finished with 19 catches for 238 yards (29.8 yds./game).
Secondary stellar:
The LHU secondary was sensational all season and led the way for the defense … As a team, Lock Haven recorded 16 interceptions which ranked No. 4 in the PSAC at the end of the regular season … Senior CB
Carlos Balkcom had seven of those 16 INTs … Those seven INTs, tied him for No. 3 all-time for a single-season and Balkcom finished his career with 12, which tied for the seventh most in a career … FS
Isaiah Flamer finished the year with 94 tackles … His 8.5 tackles per game ranked No. 7 in the PSAC and his 63 solo tackles ranked No. 2 in the league.
Fielding paves the way on O-Line:
Trent Fielding – a 2017 Preseason All-American – finished his career with 40 career starts … Fielding's leadership and experience paved the way on a talented and veteran offensive line in 2017 … The O-line paved the way for the sensational run-game and passing attack every down … After last season, Fielding was named All-Conference, All-Region and All-American … This year he started eight games, but missed Week 6, 7, and 8 action because of injury … He returned in Week 9 to cap a brilliant career.
