LHU Swimming drops dual meet to Kutztown

The LHU swimming team dropped a dual meet to Kutztown on the road

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team (1-2, 0-2 PSAC) dropped a dual meet at Kutztown (3-3, 1-3 PSAC) by a score of 143-93 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
 
The Bald Eagles were led by strong outings from Kristin Allen (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and Raechel Rodriguez (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) as both were able to take first in two events apiece.
 
Allen was able to win the 100-yard backstroke with a PSAC championship qualifying time of 59.73.  She also won the 200-yard backstroke with another PSAC championship qualifying time of 2:10.19.  As for Rodriguez, she was able to win the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke with PSAC championship qualifying marks of 1:11.39 in the 100 and 2:36.97 in the 200.
 
Jackie Bingham (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) performed well for The Haven, placing second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1.03.37.  She also took second in the 200-yard backstroke with a PSAC championship qualifying time of 2:16.36 to go along with a second place finish in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:19.15.
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kirsten Pugh (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), Steph Parker (Berwick, Pa./Berwick), Theresa Dempsey (Newtown, Pa. Council Rock North) and Kandace Loup (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) was able to win the race with a time of 1:56.70.
 
Carly Ray (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./James M. Coughlin) was able to place second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.22.
 
The team has a long layoff before the Bald Eagles' next meet when they will once again take on Kutztown, this time at home at Zimmerli pool.  That dual meet is scheduled for January 13, 2018 with a 1:00pm starting time. This will also be Lock Haven's senior day.
