QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team was edged by rival Bloomsburg University 7-5, ending the Bald Eagles thrilling run at the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament.
 
Bloomsburg jumped on Lock Haven early and led 5-0 after the first inning. The Huskies added two more runs in the second as they jumped out to a 7-0 lead.
 
The Bald Eagles responded in a big way and plated four runs in the top of the third. 
Moriah Lindsey (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) doubled in a run and 
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) hit a three-run home run.
 
Jodi Weaknecht's (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) RBI-double in the fifth cut the Bloomsburg lead to two at 7-5, as the Bald Eagle did all they could to rally.
 
Weaknecht's RBI-double capped the Lock Haven scoring, as the Huskies hung on to edge LHU in an elimination game.
 
In all, LHU scored its five runs on 10 hits.
 
Garlock capped a sensational PSAC Tournament at the plate with a 2 for 4 outing today. In five games at the tournament, Garlock hit .421 (8 for 19) with four home runs and nine RBIs.
 
Lindsey finished 2 for 4 at the plate today.

Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) struck out four.
 
With the win Bloomsburg moved to 31-17 overall and earned the right to play West Chester for the PSAC title.
 
The Bald Eagles went 3-2 overall the PSAC Tournament and highlighting their exciting 2017 tournament run was their 3-0 day on Thursday. All three wins came in elimination games after LHU opened the tournament with a loss on Wednesday.
 
Today's loss moved Lock Haven to 28-21 overall on the season.
 
The Bald Eagles, who have won 11 of their last 15 games, await the 2017 NCAA Division II Tournament Selection Show (Monday, May 8; 10 a.m.). The show will be streamed live at 
www.NCAA.com. LHU has not been ranked yet this season in any of the official weekly NCAA Atlantic Region rankings, but the Bald Eagles wait to see if they did enough at the PSAC Tournament to crack the top-eight. The top-eight teams in the region qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
