LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (38-14) ended a special 2018 season today with its second loss in the NCAA Tournament. The Bald Eagles fell to top-seed West Chester University (43-13) 4-0 today in the Atlantic 1 Regional title game.
 
With the win, West Chester advances to next week's Super Regionals and will get the winner of today's Gannon – West Virginia Wesleyan game at the Atlantic 2 Regional.
 
When the day started, the top-four seeds in the Atlantic Region remained in the NCAA Tournament: No. 1 West Chester, No. 2 West Virginia Wesleyan, No. 3 Gannon and No. 4 Lock Haven.
 
Today's loss, LHU's second to West Chester in the NCAA Tournament ended a truly special season for the Bald Eagles and one Lock Haven will remember of for a long time.
 
The turning point in today's game came in the bottom of the third inning when West Chester – playing as the home team – scored all four of its runs.
 
Bri Garber tripled to right field and knocked in a pair of runs before Madison Kelly hit a two-run home run.
 
In all, West Chester scored its four runs on six hits.
 
Lock Haven got hits from 
Moriah Lindsey (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain), 
Becca Caputo (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) and 
Bekah Slattery (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone). Lindsey reached base in all four NCAA Tournament games for the Bald Eagles.
 
Slattery, LHU's All-Region pitcher, scattered the six hits in her final game of the season. She logged every inning in the circle at the NCAA Tournament for Lock Haven, finishing 2-2 with 19 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.69.
