The Lock Haven University field hockey team is set for a pair of non-conference contests on the road this weekend.
Setting the stage:
Lock Haven will open the weekend on Friday, September 21 at LIU Brooklyn (4 p.m.), before heading to Hofstra on Sunday, September 23 (12 p.m.) LHU is 4-3 overall on the season, but the Bald Eagles are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss last Friday at Massachusetts in their Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) opener.
LIU Brooklyn is 1-7 on the season and Hofstra is 2-7. Hofstra will take on Rider Friday, prior to the Sunday-showdown with LHU. Friday's match at LIU Brooklyn will mark the first ever meeting with the Blackbirds, and Sunday's game will be the first meeting with Hofstra since a 1987 Lock Haven win (W, 1-0), the only meeting prior.
Still perfect at home:
LHU is 3-0 at home this season and in those three wins at Charlotte Smith Field, Lock Haven outscored Towson, Cornell and Colgate, 15-2.
Scoring goals:
Through seven total games - including four wins - Lock Haven has scored 23 goals. The 23 goals are the second most scored by an A-10 team and Lock Haven's 3.3 goals per game rank 10
th in Division I. Eight different players have scored for LHU, including
Tamia Roach who has a team-high five goals.
Alyscia Smith has netted four goals. Roach and Smith rank No. 4 and No. 5 in the A-10, respectively. Smith's 12 points are the third-most in the conference.
Strong goaltending:

Brianna DeAngelis has played every minute in goal for Lock Haven this season and she's been solid. Her 1.67 goals against average ranks second in the A-10 and 27
th in DI. DeAngelis' .692 save percentage ranks fifth in the A-10.
Rudy's march to 600:
To date, LHU head coach
Pat Rudy has collected 597 career wins and is now just three wins away from hitting the 600-win mark, an accomplishment only achieved by two other coaches in the history of college field hockey. Rudy's 597 wins are third all-time. She entered the season ranked among the top-20 all-time in win percentage as well, and is already one of the winningest coaches of all-time. The win over Cornell (Sept. 2) at home this season marked Rudy's 350
th win at LHU, her alma mater. In January ('18), she was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Hall of Fame.
