LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Playing on a picturesque cool and crisp fall afternoon in central-Pennsylvania, the Lock Haven University field hockey team (7-7, 4-2 A-10) and Massachusetts (6-7, 3-2 A-10) locked up in an important late-season Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) matchup, and in the end, the visiting Minutewomen escaped with a 3-0 victory.
 
The Bald Eagles moved to 7-7 overall and 4-2 in A-10 action, as their win streak was halted at three. UMass is now 6-7 overall and 3-2 in league play.
 
UMass led 2-0 at halftime and added a third goal late in the game. On the day, the visitors' three goals came from three different players including Jess Beech who opened the scoring just 57 seconds into the contest.
 
For LHU, Joaquina Orlandini (Concordi, Entre Rios, Argentina/San Antonio School) made one save in 60 minutes of play. Rookie standout Jazmin Palma (Entre Rios Province, Argentina./Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus) fired off four of Lock Haven's eight shots in an attempt to spark the offense.
 
On Sunday (October 20), LHU will host Wagner in the Bald Eagles final scheduled home game of the 2019 regular season.
 
With it being the final home game of the season, Lock Haven will celebrate Senior Day 2019, and honor seniors Kayla Brathwaite (Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago/Bishop Anstey East), MacKenzie Farley (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs), Anna King (Edinburgh, Scotland/Dollar Academy), Emily Robb (Millersville, Pa./ Penn Manor), Katie Supey (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman), Taryn Piano (Temple, Pa./Muhlenberg) and Taylor Plouse (Middletown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), along with student assistant Jordan Crispeno.
 
Following Sunday's Senior Day game vs. Wagner, the Bald Eagles will embark on a three-game road swing to cap the 2019 regular season. LHU will play at Saint Louis (A-10) on Sunday, October 27, before playing at Saint Francis (A-10) on November 1 and at Rider on November 3.
