Last Sunday (September 15) marked a special day for LHU athletics as it served as the official return of women's tennis. The Bald Eagles hosted Lycoming in the first official event of the 2019-20 season. It marked the first match for a LHU women's varsity tennis team since the fall of 1992. It was announced back on August 6, 2018 that LHU was adding two varsity sports and women's tennis was one of them. Previously, LHU sponsored varsity women's tennis for 25 seasons from 1968 through 1992. Historically, LHU has had success on the courts, as the Bald Eagles went undefeated during the 1973 and 1983 seasons, and program holds over 100 total victories. Lock Haven has also crowned seven individual conference champions.
Next weekend marks the second of two home competitions on the fall slate for the Bald Eagles. LHU will celebrate Homecoming Saturday 2019 with a 1 p.m. match on the LHU Tennis Courts vs. local-foe Penn College. The match next Saturday (September 28) is set for a 1 p.m. start.
