LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team is set to open the 2021-22 season at home on Saturday, October 16 vs. Millersville University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual meet.

Saturday's meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Zimmerli Pool.

Last season (spring 2021), Lock Haven took part in limited action, competing in a series of virtual meets, before taking part in the 2021 PSAC Championships. The Bald Eagles were ninth at the championship meet, but look poised for big things this year under the direction of third-year head coach
Brian Hein.

"We're excited to get a full season in this year," said Hein. "Last year was a condensed season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  After swimming the way we did last year, despite those circumstances, we are very excited to see what this season holds."

Leading the way:

Lauren Mummert (York, Pa./ Northeastern) will lead the return to the pool this season. Mummert notched two PSAC top-15 marks last season in the 400-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly.  She went on to finish eighth in the 200-yard butterfly during session one of the PSAC championships last season.

"
Lauren Mummert returns this year after finishing last season strong at the PSAC championships," said Hein. "I'm excited to see what she can accomplish in the pool this year."

With a strong supporting cast around her, the team can make waves early and often.
Sol Asparria (Lima, Peru/ Saint Mark's College) has qualified for the PSAC Championships in each of the past two seasons. In 2019, she qualified for the championship meet in the 50-yard freestyle and last year her participation once again warranted her a spot in the 50-yard freestyle. She landed a top-25 finish at the event.

With a crew of newcomers in the wings as well, the Bald Eagles look to improve on all facets of competition.

Looking Ahead:

The Bald Eagles will open the season with four straight dual meets. Following Saturday's meet with Millersville, LHU will travel to Kutztown on October 23, before away meets at California (Pa.) and East Stroudsburg.

Saturday's home dual vs. Millersville is one of two home dates on the current 2021-22 schedule. On Saturday, January 22, the Bald Eagles are scheduled to host Kutztown.

The 2021-22 PSAC Championships are scheduled for February 17-19. The full 2021-22 LHU swimming schedule is available at GoLHU.com.
