Swimming turns in strong effort Saturday at Kutztown

The LHU swimming team headed to Kutztown today and a number of Bald Eagles turned in strong individual performances.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team traveled to Kutztown University on Saturday to compete in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual-meet action. It marked the Bald Eagles second dual meet in as many weeks as LHU opened the season last week at home versus Millersville.
 
For the Bald Eagles, Lauren Mummert (York, Pa./Northeastern) took off in the 1,000-yard freestyle and secured a win after finishing with a strong time of 12:05.11.
 
Sol Asparria (Lima, Peru/Saint Mark's College) also had a strong individual effort in the 50-yard freestyle taking first place with a time of 26.55.
 
To finish off the day, Lock Haven's 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Madison Griffin (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone), Kacey Berardinelli (Boothwyn, Pa./Archbishop John Carrol), Mummert and Asparria combined for a win with a time of 1:50.46.
 
Loana Herrera-Tapia (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) and Griffin each placed second in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke, respectively. Herrera-Tapia finished with a time of 1:08.75, while Griffin swam a strong 1:05.96.
 
Next Up:
The Bald Eagles will visit California (Pa.) on November 6. That dual is set for a 12 p.m. start time.
