Field Hockey Senior
The 2021 LHU Seniors!

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Celebrating Senior Day, the Lock Haven University field hockey team (5-9, 2-5 A-10) closed the 2021 regular season today (Saturday, Oct. 30) at home by hosting No. 18 Massachusetts (13-5, 5-2 A-10). Visiting-UMass won the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) contest, 3-0.

The Bald Eagles used today's contest – LHU's regular-season finale – to honor their graduating senior standout-class: Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Argentina/San Antonio School), Karina Long (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and Genni Martinelli (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South).

Long, who played every minute of every game this season for Lock Haven, once again turned in a brilliant all-around effort. Orlandini (GK) also stood out and finished with six saves. She made a trio of sensational stops in the final minutes of the third quarter.

Nationally-ranked UMass led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Steph Gottwals and Bella Ianni.

Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, N.Y./Whitney Point) looked to spark the attack early in the fourth quarter and fired off two strong shots that required saves from UMass goalkeeper Marlise van Tonder.

In the final minutes of the game, Jess Beech converted a penalty stroke that pushed the Massachusetts lead to 3-0.

Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Piaget), Billie Jo Bollinger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central), Jasmine Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor), Morgan Becker (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and Zhao Rodrigo (Valencia, Spain/Colegio San Bartoleme) all turned in notable efforts in LHU's season-finale.
