LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the second consecutive day,
Maddy Reeves (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) battled back to win at No. 1 singles and
McCartney Register (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) posted an individual victory for the Bald Eagles as well, but the Lock Haven University tennis team (0-3, 0-3 PSAC East) fell to visiting Shippensburg (1-3, 1-3 PSAC East), 5-2, today on the LHU tennis courts.

Natalie Brown (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) also recorded a dominating 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
For the second straight day Reeves dropped her opening set at No. 1 singles, but earned the victory with a hard-fought comeback. Shippensburg's Skylar Walder won the opening set, 6-3, but Reeves won the second set 7-5. In the third set, the Bald Eagle-Reeves earned the match-deciding point, thanks to a 10-2 advantage in the third.

Shippensburg was awarded the team point at doubles after winning two of the three matches, but highlighting doubles play was the LHU duo of Reeves and Brown. The Bald Eagle pair downed Skylar Walder and Merel Hoekstra of Shippsburg, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Brown dropped a tight match at No. 3 singles. She edged out Ship's Brighid Cantwell, 7-6 (7-3) in the opening set. Cantwell took set two and was victorious in a thrilling third set, 11-9.
LHU will compete for a third straight day when the Bald Eagles travel to West Chester University for a 2 p.m. match tomorrow (Sunday, April 18). Lock Haven will host Bloomsburg University at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20) on Senior Day. Today marked Lock Haven's 2020-21 home opener.
