The LHU women’s soccer team went on the road to West Virginia today and took home an important PSAC win.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (3-3-1, 1-3-1 PSAC East) knocked off Shepherd University (1-4, 0-4 PSAC East), 2-1, today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.

Eva Stoessel (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) got the Bald Eagles off and running in the 19th minute when she found the back of the net for her second goal of the year off an assist from Taylor Moritz (Harleysville, Pa./Soudertown Area High). The Haven continued to test the Shepherd defense, firing off nine first half shots, but the 1-0 score line held until the halftime break.

Early in the second half, Evelyn Ciaccia (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) got on the scoresheet and bagged her first goal as a Bald Eagle on an assist from Janessa Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) in the 56th minute to push the LHU advantage to 2-0. The Rams pulled a goal back 10 minutes later, but the Bald Eagle defense tightened up over the final 20 minutes of the game to seal the 2-1 road-victory.

Kylie Auman (Centre Hall, Pa./Penns Valley Area) started in goal for The Haven and made four saves as the Bald Eagle defense led by Moritz and Leah Jensen (Harrisburg,Pa./Susquehanna Twp.(Concord)) put in a strong effort to keep the Rams offense at bay.
