CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Playing on the road for the first time this season, the Lock Haven University women's soccer team (2-0) picked up a dominating, 4-0, shutout-win over California (Pa.) University (0-1), thanks in large part to a two-goal outing from rookie
Hunter McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy).
LHU opened the 2021 season on Thursday (Sept. 2) at home with a 2-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown and the Bald Eagles moved to a perfect 2-0 on the season with today's road victory.
It marks Lock Haven's first 2-0 start since 2002.
McClellan scored her first career goal in Lock Haven's season-opening win and her two goals today give her a team-best three goals on the young season. She scored twice on five shots today.
Josie Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) scored once and she added two assists.
Anna Manley (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) added a goal in the win and goalkeeper
Kylie Auman (Centre Hall, Pa./Penns Valley) needed just one save to pick up the shutout, the first of her Haven career.
Lock Haven led 1-0 at halftime after Swartz converted from the penalty spot in the 14
th minute.
In the 48
th minute, a
Sydney Stahl (Pittsburgh/Keystone Oaks) pass put McClellan in one-on-one with Cal goalie Emily Ouimet and McClellan finished for her first goal of the game and second of the season. McCellan made it 3-0 LHU in the 53
rd minute. Her second goal of the game came off a pass from Swartz.
