EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (6-8, 3-7 PSAC) fell to East Stroudsburg University (8-5, 6-3 PSAC), 81-65, on Wednesday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
East Stroudsburg started the game by scoring the first six points. The Warriors surged to an 18-point lead, 40-22, with 3:36 to play in the opening half before Lock Haven ended the half on a 9-2 run to pull to within a 44-32 score at the intermission.
After the ESU defense held them in check in the first half, the Bald Eagles started the second half at a blistering pace.
Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) converted a pair of free throws to open the second half as Lock Haven went on a 9-2 run over the opening two-and-a-half minutes of action to bridge the gap to a 46-41 ESU lead.
Lock Haven pulled to within two off of a Montague jumper, bringing the score to 48-46 with 15:33 to play but the Bald Eagles got no closer over the remainder of the game. East Stroudsburg eventually extended its lead back to double figures in a slow-moving second half and pulled away late for an 81-65 victory over the Bald Eagles.
DaQuan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) led three Lock Haven scorers in double figures with 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Montague added 17 points while
Eli Washington (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) added 11 to round out the LHU scoring.
