LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven field hockey team (11-2, 4-1 A-10) took down the visiting Richmond Spiders (5-9, 2-3 A-10), 1-0, in a crucial Atlantic 10 (A-10) Conference matchup with playoff points on the line.
Â
With the win, the Bald Eagles completed a perfect 9-0 season on Charlotte E. Smith Field and push their overall record to 11-2 on the season. The last time The Haven was undefeated at home was 2003 when Lock Haven went 11-0 on their home turf and 17-4 on the season. The 11-2 start is the best for the program since 2013.
Â
Lock Haven's win jumped the Bald Eagles into second place in the A-10 with just two conference games remaining.
Â
Before the game, The Haven honored its four seniors:
Jazmin Palma (Entre Rios Providence Argentina/Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus),
Ellie Mead (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby (Coker)),
Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, N.Y./Whitney Point) and
Allison Horton (Easton, Pa./Wilson (Rutgers)).

SENIOR DAY 2022
The two teams managed just one shot in the opening quarter as both defenses stifled the offensive attacks.
Â
The game opened slightly in the second period with the Bald Eagles putting two efforts on goal, but the game remained scoreless at the halftime break.
Â
Senior
Jazmin Palma (Entre Rios Providence Argentina/Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus) battled through the third period and provided the only goal of the game with another clean strike from the penalty spot to put Lock Haven ahead 1-0.
Palma's goal was all the Bald Eagles needed as freshman goalkeeper
Grace Gidwani (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) made her first career start. Gidwani made three saves, all of which came in the third period.
Â
The Bald Eagle backline allowed just three shots on goal against Gidwani as Palma,
Ellie Mead (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby (Coker)),
Constanza Lopez Zabala (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Martin y Omar  ) and
Victoria Scheer (Haarlem, Netherlands/Kennemer Lyceum) locked things down for The Haven.
Â
In an evenly match conference clash, both sides totaled 11 shots each and were also tied at five penalty corners apiece.
Â
Sophomore
Alyssa Endrick (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) was a constant threat to the Spiders with three shots, but was denied multiple times by strong goalkeeping. Her partner in attack
Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aries, Argentina/Piaget) fired off a shot of her own and helped pace the Haven offensive effort.
