LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women's soccer team (3-8-3, 1-8-3 PSAC East) faced nationally-ranked No. 2 West Chester (13-0, 12-0 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action, and the Golden Rams claimed the victory on Saturday night, 4-0.
West Chester came out strong straight from the kickoff strong and took an early lead, finding the back of the net in the 2nd minute. The Golden Rams continued pressuring the Bald Eagles and found the back of the net again in the 34th minute to make it 2-0.
Just before the end of the first half, WCU created a chance that led to the ball finding its way into the net off a deflection from a Lock Haven defender. The Golden Rams carried a 3-0 advantage into the halftime break.
West Chester started the second half quickly again, scoring in the 54th minute. The game cooled off in the remaining minutes and the nationally ranked visitors claimed a 4-0 victory.
The Bald Eagles finished the match with 12 shots, with the duo of Abby Burdyn (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and Allie Stover (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) posting three and Janessa Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) shooting two.
West Chester left Hubert Jack Stadium with 16 shots in total, 5 of which were on net.
