LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – In the Lock Haven University men's basketball team's (11-14, 8-13 PSAC) regular season home finale, the Bald Eagles fell to visiting East Stroudsburg University (17-7, 15-5 PSAC), 100-81, in a late-season Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Monday night.
The Bald Eagles got off to a strong start and led 11-5 after forcing the Warriors into a number of early turnovers. At the ten-minute mark,
DaQuan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) knocked down a transition three to push the LHU lead back to six points at 21-15. However, the final ten minutes of the half belonged to ESU who went on an extended 30-10 run to close the half and take a 45-31 lead into the break.
The Warriors shooting from beyond the arc helped build the first half lead as ESU shot 53 percent from downtown and held an 8-2 lead in made three pointers in the opening 20 minutes.
As the second half got underway, East Stroudsburg quickly built the lead up to 20 points at 55-35. The Warriors led by as many as 27 points midway through the half and were able to hold off the Bald Eagle attempts to close the gap. ESU carried a 20-point lead through most of the half and brought home the 100-81 victory.
Granberry and
Eli Washington (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) led four players in double figures for LHU and knocked in 16 apiece. Washington added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and also handed out four assists. Granberry added seven rebounds of his own and was 3-5 from beyond the arc.
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) chipped in 13 points on 50 percent from the floor and
James Price (Joppa, Md./Archbishop Curley) rounded out the LHU scoring with 12.
