NEWARK, Del. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (5-5) took game one 4-3, but dropped game two to Saint Rose (1-5) in an 11-7 nine-inning shootout. The two teams met in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon hosted by the University of Delaware at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Game 1: W, 4-3

Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)) kickstarted to LHU offense with a solo homerun in the second inning to give the Bald Eagles a 1-0 lead. Shannon struck again with a double in the sixth inning to score
Jake Mastillo (Roaring Brook Twp, Pa./North Pocono) and extend the LHU lead to 2-0. The junior would finish the day 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Zach Kaatz (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) also tallied an RBI double in the sixth inning, and Mastillo grabbed an RBI single in the seventh inning to provide an all-important insurance run at 4-0. Saint Rose came clawing back in the bottom of the seventh inning, but
Matt Lingenfelter (State College, Pa./State College) notched the final strikeout and the save to bring home a 4-3 win.

David Keller (Oreland, Pa/Christopher Dock Mennonite) turned in a strong outing and picked up the win on the mound. Keller went six strong innings and struck out five, while not walking a batter. The junior scattered just six hits and did not allow a run.

Game 2: L, 11-7
Â
Saint Rose exploded for seven runs in the top of the first inning, and despite the Bald Eagles best efforts, held on for the 11-7 win. LHU put up four runs in the bottom half of the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to bring the Bald Eagles back.

Mastillo went 2-3 with a walk and three RBIs in the LHU comeback effort. Shannon,
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield and
Blaise Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) each notched an RBI of their own.

RJ Kruse (Milford, Pa./ Delaware Valley (Lackawanna)) was strong in relief for LHU going 2.1 innings and striking out three batters with no runs allowed.

The Bald Eagles travel to Glenville, West Virginia for a four-game weekend series with Glenville State on March 4-5. Each day's doubleheader kicks off at 12 p.m.
