Swimming opens 2023-24 season at PSAC Invite and Sprint Frenzy

The Bald Eagle swimming team competed in their first invite of the season against multiple conference opponents at the Keystone Aquatics Center in Carlisle, Pa.

PSAC INVITE RESULTS | PSAC SPRINT FRENZY RESULTS

CARLISLE, Pa.
– The Lock Haven swimming team opened the 2023-24 competitive season by competing in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Invite and PSAC Sprint Frenzy on Friday (Oct. 13) at the Keystone Aquatics Center.
 
In the first competition of the season, the Lock Haven swimmers were challenged to swim in more events than the typical meet, which impressed Hammaker, not only in their effort but also technique.
 
PSAC Invitational
 
In a race that featured nearly 50 swimmers overall, Holly Cleworth (Cape Town, Western Cape; South Africa Springfield Convent of the Holy Rosary) snagged a top-10 finish in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:04.39 to place ninth. Emma Pequignot (Dover, Pa./Dover) came in behind her with a time of 1:06.70.
 
Cleworth just missed her second top-10 nod in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing the race with a time of 1:03.94.
 
In the women 200-yard freestyle relay, Julia Chestnut (West Pennsboro, Pa./Big Spring), Pequignot, Espefani Santos-Soto (Hazelton, Pa./Hazelton) and Cleworth teamed up to place in the top-15 with a time of 1:51.13.
 
PSAC Fall Frenzy
 
Relay events came out in full force in the PSAC Frenzy, resulting in several impressive Bald Eagle performances.
 
The Bald Eagles team of Sydney Houck (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon), Pequignot and Cleworth finished with an impressive early-season time of 3:45.83 in the 3x100-yard breaststroke relay, to finish fifth.
 
Houck, Pequignot, Cleworth and Alaina Cane (Bellfonte, Pa./Bald Eagle) also impressed in the 400-yard medley relay, snagging a sixth-place finish with a time of 4:36.97.
 
The foursome of Cane, Cleworth, Nora Craig (Derry, Pa./Derry) and Jessie Noldy (Hop Bottom, Pa./Elk Lake) took their first run at the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 4:46.72.  
 
Cane, Pequignot and Cleworth joined forces in the 3x100-yard butterfly relay, securing a time of 3:18.91.
 
The 3x100 backstroke relay team featured Cane, Eades and Houck, who finished ninth with a swim of 3:37.79.
 
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Eades, Pequignot, Santos-Soto and Cane finished in 4:10.49, while the foursome of Craig, Houck, Chestnut and Noldy finished behind them with a time of 4:14.71.

The Bald Eagles travel to Huntington, Pa. to compete in a double dual featuring Juniata and Lycoming College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.
