Swimming defeats Juniata and Lycoming in early-season double dual

The Bald Eagle swimming team traveled to Huntingdon, Pa. to compete in a double dual against Juniata and Lycoming on Saturday inside Binder Natatorium and came out on top against both schools.

RESULTS

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Lock Haven swimming team impressed with a pair of victories over Lycoming College and Juniata College in a non-conference double dual at Juniata's Binder Natatorium on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 28).
 
The Bald Eagles upended Juniata 130-79, while defeating Lycoming 131-79.
 
The Haven swimmers dominated the afternoon, winning 10 different races, with a total of 14 finishes in the top-two.
 
With the win, the Bald Eagles secure their first dual victory since the 2017-18 season.
 
The pool inside Juniata's College Binder Natatorium is a short-course meter pool, which should be noted when viewing times in the results link above.
 
Holly Cleworth (Cape Town, Western Cape; South Africa Springfield Convent of the Holy Rosary) stood out in just her third collegiate meet, bringing home a total of four victories, including three solo.
 
Cleworth teamed up with Sydney Houck (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon), Emma Pequignot (Dover, Pa./Dover) and Alaina Cane (Bellfonte, Pa./Bald Eagle) to win the 400-meter (short course) medley relay, finishing over 20 seconds above the field.
 
Cleworth followed with solo victories in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter (sc) freestyles.
 
Houck mirrored Cleworth's effort with four total wins after finishing first in the 100- and 200-meter (sc) breaststroke and first in the 800-meter (sc) freestyle.
 
Mackenzie Eades (Derry, Pa./Derry) finished second, only behind Houck, in the 800-meter (sc) freestyle.
 
Nora Craig (Derry, Pa./Derry) brought home gold in the 100- and 200-meter (sc) backstroke.
 
In the 200-meter (short course) butterfly, Pequignot and Cane finished first and second, respectively. 
 
The Bald Eagles enter conference competition with a perfect 2-0 record.

The Bald Eagles travel to California (Pa.) on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. for their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opening meet.
