SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 4 seed Lock Haven volleyball team fell on the road to the No. 1 seed Shippensburg University, 3-0 (14-25, 9-25, 13-25), in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason tournament on Tuesday night (Nov. 14).
The Bald Eagles (11-13), who won just one game overall and in conference in 2022, did all it could on Tuesday night, but the Raiders (24-8) proved why they were the top team in the PSAC East and earned the sweep.
The Haven finishes the season with improvement across the board, but most importantly in the win column, as they increased their win total by 10 overall and four in the PSAC to earn their first PSAC postseason berth in eight seasons.
The Raiders used a fast start to take the first set 25-14 and carried the momentum the rest of the way to end the match in three sets.
As she has all season long,
Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) led The Haven in assists with 15, while
Reagan Irons (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) and
Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led the team in kills with seven each.
Natalie Acevedo (Camuy, Puerto Rico/Paula Freire Social Justice Charter School) added 10 digs and three Bald Eagles finished with five.
PSAC All-Conference Teams and major awards will be released on Thursday at 2 p.m.
