Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball soars to fifth straight victory, downs IUP for first time since 2007

Alana Robinson’s complete game on both sides of the ball powered the Bald Eagles to their first victory over IUP since 2007.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women's basketball team won its fifth straight game and clinched a perfect weekend in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) after defeating Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), 66-54, in an East-West crossover contest on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2) inside Thomas Fieldhouse.

With the victory, the Bald Eagles improve to 5-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the PSAC. The Bald Eagles have not lost since their opening game. IUP falls for the first time in conference (1-1), while dropping to 4-2 overall.

The victory over IUP marks the first for Lock Haven since Feb. 24, 2007, snapping an 18-game skid.

Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) dominated from start to finish for the Bald Eagles, netting a career-high 24 points, while pulling in seven rebounds and dishing out four assists.

However, as impressive as Robinson was on the offensive end, it was her defense that led the charge as she blocked a game-high five shots and swiped three steals.

Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) also led the Bald Eagles' defense as she recorded a game-high four steals to go with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) led the second unit with seven points and seven rebounds.

Lock Haven lead after every quarter and saved its best for last, outscoring the Crimson Hawks, 17-7, to put the game away in the fourth quarter.

Both teams shot 49 percent from the floor, but the Bald Eagles again used their defense to spark offense as they led the turnover battle 17-14, steals 10-6 and blocks 7-0. The Bald Eagles also continue to live at the free throw line, knocking down nine shots at the charity stripe compared to just five for IUP.

Lock Haven's best offensive outburst came in the second quarter when they totaled 22 points on a scorching 10-of-13 shots from the floor.

NEXT UP
The Bald Eagles return to the court after a week off on Saturday (Dec. 9) at 1 p.m. when they visit Roberts Wesleyan for a non-conference game.
