SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (16-11, 12-10 PSAC) traveled on Saturday afternoon to Shippensburg University (18-10, 16-6 PSAC) for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) regular-season finale, and the Raiders scraped out the close battle, winning the afternoon game.
Going into today's contest, Lock Haven was locked into the five-seed and will face the fourth seed in the East on Monday (Feb. 27).
Through the first ten minutes, LHU shut down the Raiders early and limited the home team to single digits, holding a 17-8 lead. James Price (Joppa, Md./Archbishop Curley) helped during the early run, picking up six points in the span.
After the slow start, Shippensburg burst out for a 16-6 run over the next six minutes to tie the game at 24-24. The Raiders finished off the half in control, holding a 33-29 lead.
The host started the second half strong, cementing their first double digit lead, holding a 46-35 lead.
After building a double-digit lead, LHU fought back, including five straight points by Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) to close the score six with the Raiders leading 63-57 with over five minutes to go.
Shippensburg held down the fort for the final minutes and earned the 74-65 victory on the final day of the regular season.
