Women’s Swimming set for weekend, meet vs. Saint Francis moved to Sunday

The Bald Eagles are set for their final two meets of the regular season before setting their sites on the 2023-24 PSAC Championship meet.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's swimming team is set for a pair of dual meets to conclude the regular season portion of its schedule.
 
The Bald Eagles originally scheduled meet at NCAA DI Saint Francis University on Friday (Jan. 19) at 3 p.m. has been moved to Sunday (Jan. 21) at 1 p.m. due to forecasted weather.   
 
Lock Haven remains set to host Kutztown on Saturday (Jan. 20) at 1 p.m. for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) meet inside Zimmerli Pool.

2023-24 NCAA & PSAC QUALIFYING STADARDS
 
Entering the weekend, the following swimmers have qualified for the PSAC Championship meet.
 
The 2023-24 championship event will be held over four days (Feb. 14-17) at the Keystone Aquatics Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
 
Sydney Houck: 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.42), 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.58)
Alaina Craig: 100-yard freestyle (55.81), 100-yard butterfly (1:00.79)
Holly Cleworth: 200-yard backstroke (2:08.36), 100-yard backstroke (58.28), 200-yard freestyle (2:01.54), 500-yard freestyle (5:28.02), 50-yard butterfly (27.55), 200-yard IM (2:14.49), 50-yard freestyle (25.91)
Emma Pequignot: 200-yard butterfly (2:12.3), 200-yard IM (2:18.11)
 
The Haven enters the weekend with a 2-4 overall mark in dual meets.
 
Saint Francis currently sits 5-1 overall, while Kutztown is 5-4.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Bald Eagles hosted Penn State Altoona for their first home meet of the season on Saturday (Jan. 13).
 
An exciting meet from start to finish came down to the final race which featured a showdown in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
The Lions edged out Lock Haven by .33 seconds to slip by the Bald Eagles on the afternoon, 118-117. The team of Espefani Santos-Soto, Makenzie Eades, Sydney Houck and Jessie Noldy placed second with a time of 1:49.78.
 
The small but fierce Bald Eagle group grinded through the afternoon and scored 48 more points today than the team did against PSU Altoona last season. 
 
The team of Nora Craig, Houck, Emma Pequignot and Alaina Cane kicked off the afternoon with a victory in the 200-medley relay with a time of 2:00.87.
 
Houck earned the first individual victory after besting the 100-yard breaststroke field with a time of 1:11.93. Houck also won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:41.41.
 
Pequignot had an excellent afternoon, picking up victories in the 400-yard IM (5:11.97), 200-yard butterfly (2:28.47) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:57.43).
 
Cane continued the momentum for Lock Haven with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 27.29 and the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.72).
 
WOMEN'S SWIMMING ANNOUNCES LESSONS AND CLINICS
Bald Eagle swimming lessons and clinics for youth, high school, adult and triathletes beginning Nov. 19 and running through April 22.
 
The theme is learn-to-swim through advanced competition levels.
 
The lessons will consist of one-on-one, small group, and mini clinics and all proceeds will benefit the Lock Haven women's swimming program.
