WINDBER, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's soccer team pitched a shutout and scored three times to take down the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on the road on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 23) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match.
The PSAC West first-place Bald Eagles improve to 8-4-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference to maintain a two-game lead in the win column in the Western Division. UPJ falls to 4-9-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the conference.
Lock Haven has now win four straight matches dating back to Oct. 5, three of which have come by shutout. The Haven is outscoring its opponents 9-1 during the run.
The Bald Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 16
th minute of the first half when
Kade Black beat the keeper left off an assist by
Austin Kravetz. The score marked the second goal of the season for Black and the second assist for Kravetz.
Lock Haven doubled its advantage 13 minutes later when
Matt Laudenslager buried a header off a corner kick from
Connor Swope. Swope's assist moved his team-leading total to seven, while Laudenslager scored for the second time this season.
In the second half, the Bald Eagles extended their lead to 3-0 in the 78
th minute when
Camden Marquette found the back of the net for the first time in his young career.
Ryan Miller dished out his first assist of the season on the score.
The Haven defense, led by goalkeeper
Ethan Beck pitched a shutout in the match and Beck earned his sixth victory in net after making a pair a saves.
On the attack, Lock Haven fired off 10 shots on goal, led by a game-high of three by
Carter Rosno.
