LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Madeline Evans pulled in a career-high 24 rebounds to lead the Lock Haven women's basketball team to a convincing 79-43 victory over visiting Georgian Court in a non-conference game inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday night (Dec. 4).
For the second time this season Evans recorded 20 or more rebounds as the sophomore led the way with an 18-point, 24-rebound double-double. Evans fell just one rebound shy of Lysa Mealing's single-game program record of 25, set in 2016.
Evans pulled in a career-high 13 rebounds on the offensive end, where the Bald Eagles held a 23-7 advantage in the game.
Lock Haven did the majority of its damage on offense at the charity stripe, where they converted 25-of-38 attempts, while the Lions finished just 6-of-10. On defense, the Bald Eagles forced a game-high 22 turnovers and held a 53-35 rebound advantage.
Jenadia Jordan also scored 18 points, while adding five rebounds a block and a steal.
Kiera Baughman rounded out the Bald Eagles in double figures, adding 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and a game-high three steals.
Sydney Lear chipped in a team-high four assists off the bench.
With the victory, the Bald Eagles have now won four of their last five games and improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 at home. Georgian Court falls to 1-7 on the year.
After leading by 23 coming out of the break, The Haven outscored the Lions 21-10 in the third period to fully pull away. During the game-clinching run in the third quarter, The Haven held Georgian court to just one made field goal (1-of-7).
Despite early struggles on the offensive end, Lock Haven built a 35-22 lead heading into the break. Georgian Court out-shot the Bald Eagles from the field, but Lock Haven outscored the Lions 15-1 at the charity stripe, while leading 13-1 in offensive rebounds.
The Haven forced eight turnovers and led by as much as 16 during the first and second period.
Evans dominated the glass in the first half, pulling in 15 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end. Jordan and Baughman both scored in double figures in the half, pouring in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
