SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Lock Haven volleyball team fell on the road to Shepherd 3-1 (13-25, 19-25, 25-21, 23-25) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd opened with consecutive victories in set one and two, before Lock Haven rallied to win the third set 25-21. However, the Rams rebounded with a narrow 25-23 victory in the fourth to seal the victory.
The Haven finished with a match-high 15 kills in the third set, while forcing seven Shepherd errors.
Lock Haven finished with 43 kills, five aces, and 51 digs.
Maddie Mitchell's 13 kills paced Lock Haven offensively, while
Natalie Acevedo and
Payton Stanton chipped in with nine kills apiece to lead the defense. Acevedo contributed nine digs and Stanton swung .421.
Madelyn Wagner facilitated the offense with a match-high 35 assists and three service aces. Wagner's 35 assists marked her third straight match with 30-plus assists.
Olivia Taylor added 16 digs and
Maddy Fox chipped in four blocks.
The Bald Eagles move to 8-18 overall and 4-8 in the PSAC East. Shepherd improved to 19-7 on the season and 8-5 in the conference.
Next Up
The Bald Eagles return home for their final two games of the regular season next weekend and will host Millersville on Friday, Nov. 14 and West Chester on Saturday, Nov. 15. Friday is youth/community night (fan contest, prizes, meet the Bald Eagles) and Saturday is Senior Day.
